OEKO-TEX® certificate

What is OEKO-TEX® Standard 100?

The OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 is an internationally recognized certification system for textile products. It sets strict limits on the use of harmful substances in textiles, ensuring that certified products are safe for human health and the environment.

The standard was developed by the International Association for Research and Testing in the Field of Textile and Leather Ecology (OEKO-TEX) to address the growing concerns about the presence of harmful chemicals in textile products. It provides consumers with confidence that the textiles they purchase have undergone rigorous testing and comply with stringent criteria.

Why do we need it?

Textiles play a significant role in our daily lives, surrounding us in various forms such as bedding and clothing. Given their close proximity to our bodies, it is crucial that textiles are as safe as possible. Ensuring the safety of textiles is essential to promote our well-being and peace of mind, allowing us to sleep comfortably and wear clothes without concern.

OEKO-TEX® Standard 100 certification requires that every component of a textile product, including threads, buttons, and zippers, meets specific criteria for harmful substances. The testing covers a wide range of substances, such as heavy metals, formaldehyde, phthalates, and pesticides. The standard also includes requirements for color fastness and pH value.

When purchasing textiles with the OEKO-TEX Standard 100 label, consumers can be sure that the products have been independently tested and certified to be free from harmful substances. It enables them to make informed choices and support brands that prioritize safety, sustainability, and responsible manufacturing.
